The article entitled “For the Love of Learning: Lessons of Chile’s Voucher Reform Movement” was written by Prof. Martin Carnoy who teaches economics and education at Stanford University. The main points of the author in this article are based on the voucher plans which were previously introduced in many countries. It was indicated that although the voucher plans are encouraging, these are indeed worse for the low-income family child. However, the Chile Voucher Plan was long-lasting that regularly assessed the students, privatized teachers’ contract and eliminated their union.
The passage that I have found enlightening in this article is the part which demonstrated military dictatorship in Chile.
