Media Violence and Influence on Violent Behaviour
Introduction
The advent of electronic media has entirely changed lifestyles all over the world. A person might seek advantages from it, such as remaining connected to the whole world but on its darker side, media violence is greatly affecting thought and behaviour patterns of children, adolescents and adults. While the violence shown on television and social media may be factual or made-up, the portrayal of wars, crimes, conflicts, rivalries and use of arms and their effects have been studied by researchers to determine any harmful consequences.
Media Violence and Violent Behaviour

It means that individuals can reason with the cause and effect of violence portrayed and hence, ameliorates any disastrous results. Contrarily, much of the research has also proved it true for media aggression to affect the minds and actions of individuals.

It has also gone beyond the appropriate limit in many individuals because of which pathological gaming/gaming addiction has been termed. Many findings support the claim of the development of aggressive behaviour, defiance, oppositional behaviour towards authority figures and a range of poor conduct in children who indulge in these games (Anderson et al., 2017). Games are also believed to affect normative beliefs (Shao & Wang, 2019) in which the individual starts to defend violence as the appropriate mode of problem-solving.
