Significance testing is a method used in statistics or research in order to measure or ascertain whether a hypothesis is worth working on. It involves looking at the opposite or alternative of the hypothesis. If the alternative is quite likely to occur, then the study would not be reasonable and vice-versa. P-value, on the other hand, can be defined as the probability of obtaining findings that are as close as possible to observed findings of a hypothesis test.
