Human beings undergo physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes throughout their lifetime, which amount to growth and development. The four domains of growth and development: infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, cut across all the stages (Beckett & Taylor, 2019). Adolescence, the stage characterized by puberty (Sawyer et al., 2018), is the most rampant. It is the period between two states of human development, childhood and adulthood, and since major changes occur during this period, adolescence qualifies both as a stage and transition period (Beckett & Taylor, 2019). The changes associated with the transition period are sudden and rapid, often bringing about instability and an element of self-consciousness among adolescents.
