The story “A Story of an Hour” begins with explaining the health condition of Mrs. Mallard whereby the states that she is having a heart disease. The news about the death of her husband is therefore told with a lot of caution due to her current health condition. The news about the death of Brently Mallard was received by Richard, a family friend to the Mallard’s family who was in the newsroom headquarters when the accident and the number of deaths were reported. On receiving the news about the death of her husband, Mrs. Mallard cried passionately, believing that the husband has died in the train crash. The information was however shared without enough truth and evidence from reliable sources and was received as a shock by the entire family.
After receiving the bad news, Mrs. Mallard felt completely deleted and absent, arguing with her inner soul on how life will be without her husband. She felt like it was the end of her life considering that her health condition was critical. She, however, breathed heavily as tries to resist the feeling as she succumbs to the unknown feeling of freedom. The death news brought a mixture feeling of isolation and loneliness and that of acquiring freedom especially on making her own decisions without being accountable to anyone.
