The story “Tornado” gives a detailed account of the losses caused by a tornado on Cleveland Street. Businesses such as the Red Cedar used car lot, the Jiffy-Kwik 24 hour food store, and the Cleveland Street branch of the Trust National bank were partly destroyed. The tornado also hit the home of Mellon, the mayor of city and the homes of other residents. Their roofs were completely torn apart by flying tree. Like most of business that were affected, the owners of Jiffy-Kwik suffered losses equivalent to a few thousand dollars.
