Imagine yourself positioned in one of the following scenarios:
* You have run communications for 4 years in a small company, seeing the company through growth from 10 employees to 60. Your company has been acquired by a larger company. Your new parent company is headquartered more that 2,000 miles from you. The CEO of this company is invested in education initiatives that impact technical literacy of middle school students. There have been successful initiatives created in the city of the company’s HQ, and you have been identified as someone that would be a good fit if your office to explore starting a similar initiative in your operating city. Currently, you work in an office of 60 people, all of whom you know fairly well. By the start of the next quarter, 30 more people will have moved into your offices from HQ, including your new boss, and 2 people on your team of 5 direct reports.
* You have worked in a medical device company for 10 years as an administrator, mostly ordering supplies and organizing travel for a department of ~25, in a company of ~1200. You have been organizing community outreach events and volunteer efforts in addition to this role because it is a persona passion of yours for several years. There has recently been an organization-wide reorganization. Due to community need, internal advocacy, and the popularity of your volunteer organizing to this point, you have been able to create a new role for yourself: Community Relations Manager. This role will be part of the communications team.
* You work for a mid-sized university. While this university is generally seen as a positive addition to the area for many reasons, recent constructions has caused some concern. Your university is expanding rapidly, and plans to continue expansion for the next 5 years. This expansion is likely to displace local residents/residential business.
