My gendered act was meant to challenge the conventional norm that women and sisters are primarily bestowed with responsibilities of doing home chores. I my show, I carried out duties that my mom and sisters would ordinarily undertake. Through this act, my mum and sisters were pleased. They were happy such that I was given special treatment on the same day. One of the common issues in the current society is the uneven distribution of work. This discussion raises concerns. One of the questions we need to ask ourselves as a class is whether women must carry out most domestic jobs, including childcare. The burden is too much for women to handle, and the situation needs to change. I have experienced women working as much as their male counterparts but are paid less. Even though most men are starting to pick up and deal with gender parity, a lot needs to be conducted to emphasize the role played by women, which I feel is underrated.
Primary decision-making in our homes has been left to women when it comes to the decoration of households. Most people believe that women have a taste of color. That is why they are left with the duty of decoration. I can attest that I attempted to do decoration once, but everybody was against what I did because it never looked attractive to them. Because of women's passion for decoration and cleanliness, some chores should be left on their hands. Planning family activities should be equally shared among the members regardless of gender, but in the current society majority of the family members do not share responsibilities.
