I discovered a new perspective of the concept of freedom after reading this short story. Mostly, freedom means to accept. This short story gives the idea that freedom is not about accepting but being accepted. It is not all about getting the equivalent stability in a state. It is about not getting discriminated from others based on colour, caste, theology or race (Flack, 1951). The feeling of being looked down upon in society generates the feeling of loneliness, pain and self-abasement.
