Introduction
Community engagement is an effective process that facilitates the collaborative working of an organization with communities in addressing various challenges affecting them. In promoting a community-based relationship that leads to health and wellness, vital information is necessary, using outreach information methods and observing ethical standards and practices.
The information gained in the course to better prepare to promote and lead community-based relationships in health and wellness?
From the course, I have learned that community engagement is the primary element to consider if I want my community-based initiative to achieve health and wellness to succeed. According to the World Health Organization, engaging the community affected by the health and wellness program increases the project’s chances of acceptance. Also, community members will be willing to participate and commit to its completion to the end. Engaging the affected community who have felt ignored for quite some time gain control over their lives and issues affecting them, thereby working towards making it better. Additionally, practical solutions will be acquired quickly as local knowledge from the diverse groups of people living there will inform the practical solution (World Health Organization, 2017).
To promote a community-based relationship in health and awareness, I have learned that the primary tactic I need to utilize is social mobilization. This is to ensure community engagement. In addition, social mobilization will help me identify the cultural, social, and behavioral issues affecting the community members and develop effective solutions to curb them. Community engagement is also a vital tool to use to succeed in achieving success in a community health and wellness program (World Health Organization, 2017). Engaging with local organizations with the necessary connection, community influence, and infrastructure will ensure that penetrating a community is effortless. Also, it will act as a vital resource and ensure the implementation of the program runs smoothly.
How I will ensure communities are educated on the value of partnerships to health and wellness issues? Outreach and information dissemination methods to use?
The first step would be to use members of the communities as the primary source of information for the rest of the community. Making them the project’s image will ensure that more community members will listen and participate.
