In general, the Signode website has commendable aesthetics and functionality. However, there is the need to improve in two key areas, namely: navigation and content updating. The evaluation process unveiled that navigation through the website, especially backtracking, is problematic for the majority of the users. The major problem is that moving from one page to another entails a great workload and time than other websites. Notably, the website employs bounce navigation, requiring users to return to the homepage prior to moving to another page. Coherently, it is paramount to ensure that the website allows the users to move from one page to any other without moving to the homepage first. Coherently, the present study recommends the use of algorithms that result in not only aggregated non-linear structure of the webpages, but also customization of navigation to ease the process of users transitioning from one page to another. The proposition will mitigate the problem of users leaving the website amidst surfing through different pages. Additionally, the website does not ensure that it demonstrates to the customers a continual improvement of packaging material it avails through introduction of new merchandise. The evaluation process indicated that the website's last time received a significant update was on 28th June 2020. Furthermore, there was an insignificant content update and increase in 2020, considering that most of the content were introduced in 2019. It is crucial, therefore, for the company to have a website manager. The role of the manager is not only ensuring that the website is online and accessible across the globe, but also confirm that there is generation of new content, removal of outdated text and files and continuous introduction of the website on social media sites to complement marketing efforts and increase the number of people visiting the website. It would also be the responsibility of the website manager to consult with the supply chain system to ensure that there is congruence between what is available in warehouses and indicated on the website.
The problem of website navigation exhibits frequently since experts understanding of structures is different from that of users. Therefore, the web developers and company employees may know where to find a given information, but users are highly likely to remain clueless unless they continuously use the homepage as the reference point for moving to a given web page. While different strategies have been proposed to relink website pages to improve traversability utilizing clients' route information, a totally revamped new design is profoundly erratic since the process would require a holistic re-development of the website. As such, the best alternative is to employ a numerical programming frameworkto improve the client route on a site while limiting changes to its present design. Through the strategy, the user navigation becomes enhanced and easily distracted clients are bound to profit by the improved design than the less likely to be disoriented clients.
