When Philo T. Farnsworth invented electric television, maybe he did not think it would be used to document people eating bugs, living on deserted islands or finding husbands based on votes of viewers. That is what is on television every night nowadays. This newest form of television programming is what is called reality television genre. The programming is now shown on almost every station, every night, all over the world. The web page, Fact Monster, credited the beginning of modern reality TV as beginning in the early 2000s when a reality game show known as Who Wants to be a Millionaire started airing.
