The primary objective of Internet-based learning is to assist students in learning at their own pace. It also allows learners to access reading materials and information at a convenient time. Additionally, internet-based learning can also be described as the channel used to help students from remote areas access quality education without attending classes physically. Over the years, the overall shift from face-to-face teaching to virtual learning. Most learning institutions across the globe have embraced the technology because it is effective and timely.
Pros of Internet-Based Learning
* Economies of scale
Internet-based learning is not restricted by location, providing opportunities to access quality education in every corner of the planet. Through this process, the learners can save the accommodation fees and other costs involved in physical class teaching. Additionally, it allows teachers to pass knowledge to all students worldwide without being worried about location. The aspect of economies of scale is also presented in e-learning. For example, physical class is reduced, and the number of students increased; in this case, teachers are not worried about the space (Clark & Maye, 2003).
* Flexible schedules
Internet-based learning enables flexibility in terms of location and time. It allows students to access learning materials at convenient times hence boosting productivity. However, participation of learners in synchronized classes is a challenge, especially to non-English speaking students. The learning platforms are fitted with translation gadgets (Cook & Dupras, 2004).
* Individual learning
The noblest thing with internet learning is the ability to control the learning process. in this case, learners are allowed to choose courses that they are comfortable learning. Most students prefer internet learning because it is affordable; all you need is internet access and a tablet or pc.
