Getting an opportunity to work with St Claude Hospital, Tricare Harahan, and Ochsner Health Center-New Orleans allowed me to apply the things I had learned in class in a real-life situation. The three workplaces have reinforced my view on the importance of nurses in healthcare. I started appreciating the role of nurses in the healing process for clients. This learning statement will demonstrate how I applied the things I had learned in the course in the practice.
I understand the importance of collaboration in the workplace for improving the health outcomes of patients. In the course, we studied the importance of working together with other healthcare professionals. The emphasis was on preventing medication errors, improving patient experiences, delivering better outcomes to patients, and saving costs on the clients by eliminating workflow inefficiencies. While in St Claude Hospital, Tricare Harahan, and Ochsner Health Center-New Orleans, I would ask for assistance from other experienced nurses and other healthcare professionals. Collaboration made the workplace more enjoyable because a team could address problems as opposed to an individual.
The knowledge I acquired on acting professionally, responsibly, and ethically in the workplace enabled me to offer high-quality services to clients.
