For that reason, I made the decision to study abroad so that I could gain the first-hand experience from various professionals around the world. The decision to study abroad was not one that sounded well to my parents’ ears. For example, my father had his reservations on why I should continue studying in Taiwan. Some of his concerns include the fact that I would abandon our culture and forget how to speak in Taiwan. Conversely, my mother was afraid that she will not have the chance to hug me goodnight daily if I opt to study abroad. Even though my parents did not support the decision to study in the United States, I managed to convince them, thus allowing me to follow my dream. Studying abroad was one of the best decisions I ever made in life because I was able to interact with other students from different parts of the world. Moreover, studying in the United States helped me learn some of the different cultures that exist across the world. For instance, I was able to learn that the Japanese culture was almost similar to Taiwan.
