Charismatic Leadership
Part A
Charismatic leadership refers to individuals who can adequately communicate to their juniors, thus reaching out to them through emotional appeal. By using their personality, charismatic leaders can gain the support of others in achieving the desired goal. Such a leader aims to create a good impression on others, inspiring them to work effectively to achieve the organization’s goals. Communication plays a vital role in portraying a charismatic leader since he/she must address others in the organization in a manner that grants the necessary support. Leaders who can eloquently address their employees can relate to their problems while ensuring the problem-solving function can easily be applied when required across all levels. The organization can thus improve the performance of employees by using the leader to motivate others into working just as hard. In this case, the goal lies in making people view the leadership style as the most appropriate and appealing in achieving organizational goals. Therefore, a charismatic leader possesses characteristics such as humility regarding valuing all employees, listening to their views, confidence in their conduct, and appropriate decision-making style. Furthermore, the leader also employs compassion in understanding situations as they occur while also oozing confidence in their communication style.

In this case, a charismatic leader creates an impression that others can relate to within the workplace. When people perceive such impressions, they become likely to follow through to portray their willingness to work under the leader. Therefore, once charismatic leaders represent themselves as role models, they expect others to emulate their actions and behavior, thus inspiring them to work in a particular way. Consequently, such an image portrayed by the leader positively resonates with people in the organization, enabling more people to have faith in the leadership style. Therefore, the importance of impression management lies in its ability to convert the perceptions and opinions of others into ones that align with the leader.
A charismatic leader can associate him/herself with a famous person in power to strengthen their image, among others. Such association enables people to compare and perceive such a person in a context that equates them to an influential person. In such an instance, the aim lies in creating an image to create a perception that precedes the leader’s reputation. This may come in handy when the leader is new and needs to adapt to an organization quickly. Therefore, by carefully displaying such an association, the leader can ensure that the employee’s perception can be positively highlighted.
