The topic is this: Office Art Video. Video Presentation. Your boss (or CEO), who knows you have been taking a humanities class since he pays for your tuition reimbursement, has tasked you with managing the art budget for your company, expecting you to choose various pieces of art for the new corporate offices. (Note: Replicas of the works are acceptable since they are more cost-efficient and you are working on a budget.) After introducing your company and what it does, include the following for your boss:
Identify and show three (3) examples of paintings or sculptures from the period between 1600 and 1850, and three (3) paintings or sculptures from the period between 1850 and 1950. Identify the style of each selection, the artist and date, and the key information or subject matter.
Explain the historical significance or context of each piece.
Describe the appearance of each your six (6) choices to your boss so he or she will realize some of the specific qualities of each piece. Explain where each would be placed in the corporate offices (or hotel or complex) and explain why.
Explain how each piece “fits” your company’s overall (or desired) corporate image or products. What does each piece of art say about your company.
The level to which the instructions were followed.
The extent to which all four (4) parts in the topic were addressed.
The adequacy of information, examples, and details which support the general claim or main idea.
The clarity and relevance of the explanations and descriptions.
Adherence to standard rules of grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.

 Las Meninas (The Maids of Honor) by Diego Velázquez [1656]
  In the Baroque style painting, the painter represented himself in the studio behind a canvas and Margarita the child princess appears is in the foreground, there are two maids of honor, two dwarfs and a dog on the floor.
 Thomas Gainsborough Mrs. Richard Brinsley Sheridan [1787]
The Rococo portraiture style painting by English artist Thomas Gainsborough who focused on Sheridan’s elegance and the beauty of the surrounding highlighting that the artist integrated a romantic theme in the painting, but focuses more on the subject’s formal expression.
 Joseph Wright of Derby, A Philosopher Giving a Lecture at the Orrery, ca 1763–1765
Wright’s painting was based on the enlightenment movement and depicted an audience looking at a lamp or lantern that illuminates light like the sun. The painting relates to the Industrial Revolution where he depicted the solar system and celebrated scientific discovery.
 The Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso [1903-1904]
What Picasso is painting is in the Expressionism style in the Blue Period where the mainly painted monochromatic paintings.  An old man holds a  guitar, and the backgrounds are in blue and shades of green color, and the painter reflected on the lived experiences of the aging musician.
 Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Street, Dresden, 1908  
Kirchner‘s painting is also Expressionist, but the figures are distorted, and the subject is people moving in different directions in an urban setting. Kirchner‘s depicts the reality and reflects on how the surroundings shape people’s lives.
 Salvador Dalí, The Persistence of Memory [1931]- Surrealists
The Avant-garde and surrealism style painting was inspired by the Dada movement where there was experimentation and focuses on the subconscious art. The melting clocks further highlight that there was no longer sense of time.
Historical significance or context 
In the Las Meninas (The Maids of Honor) painting there are reflections of King Philip IV and the queen while the two dwarves watch over the dog and Infanta Margarita the princess seems to be watching them (Kleiner, 2016). The painting then is important to highlight aspects of the Spanish court life and the place of the Royal Court in 17th century Europe. Thomas Gainsborough’s Mrs. Richard Brinsley Sheridan painting is relevant to understanding the evolution of nature and portraiture paintings, and how they inspired later artists. Even as Mrs. Sheridan is enclosed by nature, she appears introspective, and the textures are blended, but distinct Gainsborough even inspired American portraiture artists to use visual dialogue to connect with the viewers.
