What narrative point of view (NPOV) does each reading use? Give one example and explain from each reading.
In "The Ones Who Stay and Fight" by N.K. Jemisin, the narrative point of view is third-person limited. An example of this can be seen in the following sentence: "She [the protagonist] stares for a long time at the boy, then glances up at the looming walls of the city." This NPOV allows the reader to see the world through the protagonist's eyes and understand her thoughts and feelings, but not those of the other characters.
In "The Bookstore at the End of America" by Charlie Jane Anders, the narrative point of view is first-person singular. An example of this can be seen in the following sentence: "I’ve been working here at the Bookstore at the End of America for longer than I can remember (Alyousef, H. S. (2018)." This NPOV allows the reader to experience the story through the narrator's perspective and emotions, creating a sense of intimacy between the reader and the narrator.
