Greek and Roman mythology often speak to the political and cultural reality of their time.
Every country, community or society follows a particular way of life. They tell stories and share common traditions or norms that speak to the times or eras. For the Greek and Roman mythologies, the same happened. The stories that were shared about the heroes, the gods, and the way of life mimicked the times. Through these, people could learn about life in the generations that preceded them as well as their forms of belief. The ancient Greeks and Romans are famous for their mythologies that helped the world understand how they lived as well as their political landscape. These two societies introduced their civilization to the world and their contributions are still felt to this day. The ancient Greek’s influence in modern architecture is something that is still of great relevance today. Their art and literature, with that of the Romans as well, are gels that help to shape the world today and inform on its past. So, in this paper, the focus will be on how the Greek and Roman mythologies speak to the political and cultural reality of their time.
