The academe is where the students learn to understand theoretical concepts and gradually learn to apply them into their daily lives as they continuously improve their knowledge and skills. Not all subjects are related to the actual career path in the future because some are electives that the students choose depending on their preference, experiences, and other factors. In my case, I selected a minor in African American Studies because the constant clashing between these two ethnicities has primarily resulted in violence and oppression in contemporary society. Due to this, Jenkins identified sexuality as a barrier to many possibilities that life had to offer (Jerkins, 2018).
It is an important lesson that can be applied to real-life situations, especially in the workplace. The topic demonstrated how a single factor, sexuality, can hinder individuals from maximizing their full potential. They were prejudiced based on their sexuality instead of analyzing the appropriateness of their knowledge and skills with the necessary tasks that must be accomplished.
Second, the subject also tackled the significance of the differences in the social classes and neoliberalism using the film Parasite to illustrate how thi...
