Interpretation of the Shanghai Museum

Introduction
The Shanghai Museum is located in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China. It is the only Chinese museum that has lots of ancient and modern Chinese artworks displayed in various galleries. The museum was founded in 1952 but underwent reconstruction in 1996 (Liao, 2017). The founding collections have come from three main sources: items that were bought by the government and sold by private collectors because of extreme political pressure, a batch of artifacts collected during the Civil war by the Communist 3rd Field Army, and artifacts that were seized with authority by the customs service. Some days ago, I got a chance to visit the Shanghai Museum along with two of my cousins. I was amazed by its huge collections of calligraphy, furniture, ceramics, bronze, paintings, ancient and modern coins, jades, seals, minority art, foreign art, and sculptures. During our visit, we were told that architect Xing Tonghe had come up with the design of this museum, and the building was shaped like a bronze cooking vessel known as the ding. The overall environment of the Shanghai Museum was great, and we learned a lot about the culture, traditions, customs, and history of China.
