We have read and discussed a number of writers whose work focuses on some of the benefits and problems currently surrounding the use of technology in education. For this essay you will read additional authors writing on the same topic. At times, these authors make the case for positive points (how technology can benefit education, etc.); others you will read tend to point out some serious problems concerning the use of technology in education.
Now you will respond (“I Say”) to many of these thoughts the authors have proposed (the “They Say” or ongoing conversations on this topic). Your essay will have a thesis that the rest of the essay will support, and the body of the essay will respond to, and argue using, the ideas and positions of at least three of the authors we have read. Note: the assignment is not asking for your opinion on this topic in isolation—you are expected to grapple with the ideas of the writers, finding agreement (noting how they contribute to your argument while adding to what they have said) or disagreement (with persuasive reasons why you disagree), or perhaps some of both. It will be important to anticipate objections to your position (planting “naysayers”), to consider and / or rebut counterarguments.

The rubric I use to grade your essay will consist of these 11 categories:
Introduction - sets up your argument, briefly mentions the texts you'll use, and includes a thesis (10%)
Thesis - should appear at the end of the intro paragraph (10%)
Body Paragraphs: develop thesis - body paragraphs each develop the author's thesis and are organized by ideas, not by authors. (10%)
Body Paragraphs: provide examples - specific examples are used to develop the author's thesis, quoting and paraphrasing is used to effectively make their points and provide an outside reader with a clear understanding of outside sources/examples. (10%)

Introduction
It is no doubt that technological advancements have come with several improvements in the field of education in the world today. These changes range from electronic books, electronic mails, online classes, and online libraries, as well as the use of video games to enhance learning. All these improvements appear to have had positive impacts on education. However, some scholars have come out to criticize the digitalization of education in the modern world. One such scholar is Baron Baron (2014), who feels that electronic reading poses a more significant threat to humanity studies. Other scholars such as Larson (2015) and Marc Prensky (2001) have, however, praised the digitalization of education, citing that teachers should be challenged to change their style of teaching to conform to the current technology. Through discussion of the above scholars' arguments, this paper shall, therefore, justify why the digital education system is the way to go and how e-learning can be modified to support humanities.
Impacts of Technology in Reading
To start with, Baron (2014) main argument in her article How E-Reading Threatens Learning in the Humanities is that electronic learning does not favor in-depth reading. She, therefore, claims that studies such as humanities require deep reading an something that cannot be achieved through electronic text. Some of the reasons that Baron (2014) uses to justify her arguments include the idea that print reading allows an individual to write some short notes on the pages being read and thus improving retaining. This reason, according to Larson (2015), does not hold waters. Instead, Larson (2015) argument on the same in his article The Learning Potential of e-Books is entirely the opposite of Baron (2014)'s reasoning. Larson (2015) argues that most electronic books facilitate students with the option of creating digital notes with the help of note-taking tools, thus improving learners' understanding of the concepts.
Larson (2015) even goes further to affirm that e-learning plays a very significant role in improving confidence in struggling readers. This is because they come with audio assistance that assists learners in pronunciation. Besides, e-learning also gives struggling readers a chance to maneuver through several titles on online libraries to find texts that suit them and avoid difficult ones. This way, the learners get to interact more with the texts as opposed to sticking with hard passages, which makes them bored and thus spending less time when reading. Apart from the benefits that come with electronic reading, there is a single negative thing that digitalization has caused and is yet to be mitigated. This issue, according to Baron (2014), is the distraction. Baron (2014) argues that with the presence of several tabs open in the electronic gadgets used for electronic reading, learners' concentration gets to be distracted, as they are likely to shift from one tab to the other.
