The essay topic is:
"The movie version of Hedda Gabler is a much better way to understand the themes of the play."
Choose one (1) theme of the play and then use examples from the text and movie to either argue in favour of this perspective or against this perspective. Remember to write a clear introduction paragraph with a detailed topic sentence and thesis statement disclosing your point of view.
Here is the essay rubric. This will be the tool your instructor uses to mark your work. Pay close attention to the various features for each.
* Knowledge: For knowledge you demonstrate understanding of the literary essay structure and clearly develop your ideas according to the format and information that has been presented to you.
* Thinking: You need to effectively develop your analysis throughout the essay as well as identify perspective and bias in arguments you develop or if you present counter-arguments to your thesis
* Communication: For communication you need to establishe your voice in the essay. What this means is that your essay should not be a string of quotes from the sources you have looked at or the original work we have studied this unit. You should be developing your own perspective and this should come out in your writing. You also need to use vocabulary properly and at the appropriate grade level
* Application: For application you need to use proofreading strategies in your writing and your sentence craft needs to be at an appropriate grade level
