One thing I’m sure of is that you cannot go to New York and not visit Midtown Manhattan. After all, it’s ranked as the largest central business district in the whole world and also ranks as one of the most expensive city to live in, albeit it should not be a reason to deter you from visiting this cultural; entertainment and leisure hub which in most cases it’s worth the while.
Attractions and Shopping Malls
All the landmarks and sceneries we see in movies or TV shows that portray New York; most of them are in Midtown. We have the Time Square where there are several pedestrian- only zones where chairs are available to watch and take in the millions of people minding their business, United Nations Secretariat building at the UN headquarters set behind the awe-inspiring row of all 192 member nation flag, Rockefeller Center which is a 22 acre facility full of stores and offices. This is a good place to get a behind the scenes tour of some favorite shows at the NBC studio. Furthermore, take a plunge in the thespian world by visiting and viewing a show at the Broadway Theater District which is a major nerve in the US entertainment industry. The empire state building is the most recognizable of them all. Factor in the light displays every night in spectacular colors that also lit up in various colors to mark holidays and special events, displaying an unusual sight to behold. On 87 E. 42nd Street, we have the famous train station the Grand Central terminal. After gazing at the busy station and taking it all in, move a block east and feast your eyes at the Chrysler Building, which at the time of construction was considered the tallest building in New York’s skyline. If you are an art enthusiast, make sure to visit its lobby that is open to the public to view their art deco
Also, we have the Madison Square Garden which hosts endless events ranging from sports, music, and comedy. For the students, bookworms and intellectual individuals, pass by the New York Library keeping your eyes peeled to notice its iconic two lion’s statues outside the library. If you are lucky, you can visit on a special day where they hold celebrity book readings, educational seminars and again the frequent art exhibitions for the art lovers. Just behind the library is the Bryant Park with an array of free outdoor movies, fencing, and yoga classes in the summer season or skating in the winter season or just relax and take in the ambience of the clean, fresh air away from the concrete jungle.
For those that sojourn in search of spiritual or religious nourishment, the Midtown has the St. Patrick’s Cathedral located at 460 Madison Avenue. It is the spiritual center of the New York’s Roman Catholic community. Other Landmarks and attractions include the Museum of Modern Art, Time Warner Center, Carnegie Hall for the classical or popular music lovers and the Trump Towers
For the food lovers, there are high-end restaurant such as Masa and Per se to get that fine dinner experience.
