Over the years and years to come, foreign accents have been and will continue to be parts of our lives. Foreign accents have over the past been used for different purposes. A major use was seen in the Old Testament. The Gileadites used foreign accents to point out the Ephraimites and kill them. The ease of noticing foreign accents is their difference from other accents. Words such as “zeeze seengs’ spoken by a foreigner who is a French national can easily be translated to mean 'these things.' Different people have a different pronunciation of terms as they try to speak non-native languages. Languages such as Italian lacks words ending in p, k. t. d. b, g, z, v, f, s. Hence an Italian speaker would pronounce ‘these things’ as ‘deeza tings’. According to Weinberger (2012), Linguistics have attributed this to ‘language transfer.' This is a situation that happens to most people as they try to learn new languages. During the initial stages of learning the new language, most tend to import some of the characters of their former languages to the new languages they are learning. It is hard for us to speak a foreign language without bringing traces of our first languages to it. But if we paid extra attention to sounds, then we can be able to have an accent that is hardly distinguishable from a native’s accent.
The tongue and lips are the main organs that are used during talking or speaking. The action of vocal cords leads to the creation of speech sounds.
