Virunga is a documentary film produced in DR Congo Virunga National Park. It is a 2014 film directed by Orlando. In this film of Virunga, I choose the mountain gorillas as the Anthropocene wild animal I would prefer to talk about. The reason why I choose mountain gorillas over any other wild animals living in Virunga national park to be the best representation of an Anthropocene is that predominantly, gorillas are the most robust and salient wild animals. I am not saying this because of their magnitude and potency and their merciful human-like habit. They play a substantial task in biodiversity. They usually move in a multitude of lands. Furthermore, one of the other eccentric features that led me to choose the mountain gorillas in the Virunga film is how unique gorillas look. You cannot imagine. They have hands and feet just like the humans, including the thumbs and toes too. (Weber, A.W &Vedder, A. 1983). They live in small groups referred to as bands wherein each band. There is one supreme Silverback then with female gorillas and few offsprings. They also use sign language. Mountain gorillas are way protective of their habitats. Why? Because it has often been destroyed by us humans, making this one sweet, harmless animals become pissed off. So, the dominant male gorilla keeps his family close to protect them. The large ones take a lot of food like bamboo. How we can take part in the management of the gorillas is first, we make sure to keep distance when visiting them to avoid infecting them with the disease. Second, donate funds to the organizations dealing with the preservation of them.
The Mountain gorillas are shown clearly in the documentary of Orlando "Virunga." Here, Orlando is featuring the gross dirt in the institutions, where they are filled with corruption, bribery, and violence. Orlando uses a very good scene that Virunga National park, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to the world's last mountain gorillas and brings about economic stability to the Congo. Congo is known for frequent wars and clashes among themselves. Things seemed to worsen after the unearthing of oil there. Because of this, Orlando found himself caught up in the battle of the conservation of the park and the manipulation too. He portrays the fearless three rangers who play a role in protecting the mountain gorillas. (Plumptre, A.J & Williamson, E.A. 2001). The mountain gorillas in this film play a vital role in the survival of humanity in that they protect the tropical forests they live in. The jungle is a habitat for so many other species, so mountain gorillas are important. So when we safeguard them, they protect the plants, other animals, and also insects. They maintain a balanced ecosystem that is free of diseases passing on from animals to humans.
