Background and Introduction
Marianne is a 15-year-old girl who attends a private high school. She lives with her parents and a brother in a middle-class neighborhood. The teenager states that her family is not as strict as she is about the kind of food an individual should take. She keeps watch of her weight. She explains that although she wants to be healthier, she believes that she is in good health. One of the reasons she gives for conviction is that she is leaner than some of her friends. Also, she reveals that she is the skinniest person in her family.
Diet
Marianne is proud that she has succeeded in fighting off the temptation of eating food containing animal products. She adds that before she turned vegetarian, she weighed much more than she does not. She was not happy with her body and one or twice attracted negative comments from some of her peers who called her fat. Her parents took her to a nutritionist who advised her to eat a lot of vegetables and grains. She also told her to eat lean meat, fish, eggs, and animal products that contain low fat. She, however, did not take the entire advice. One of her friends convinced her that she should take no animal products whatsoever, and she decided to follow her advice because she thought her friend achieved the describes perfect body.
