Introduction.

The main difference between human beings and animals is that human beings can reason or think independently without any assistance. This ability to reason enables human beings to understand other living organisms and study them to know how they survive under certain conditions and their physical and psychological adaptions to ensure they live in their habitats. It is well known that animals rely heavily on their instincts. They know when they are in danger and take necessary measures to defend themselves. Animals also experience stress under harsh circumstances, and this is depicted in their change of behavior after a certain period.

This paper will focus on why animals, domestic and wild, should not be caged or kept in captivity mainly because they were created and are adapted to live in their natural habitats. When these animals are transferred from their natural habitats, they change their behavior.
* Personal Relevancy.
There is no human being who, in their right senses, loves staying in enclosed areas all the time. Even melancholic introverts need to go out at times to drain their perfectionistic energy so that they can recharge once they go back indoors. From a personal viewpoint, the writer believes that everyone needs company and the outdoor environment as much as they can get every day. This also applies to domesticated animals, more specifically pets. Letting them out of the house once or twice a day and giving them the company they need, petting them whenever possible, creates a healthy relationship between the pets and their owners.

Just as normal human beings feel lonely when they are held captive and in most cases experience symptoms of withdrawal, separation anxiety, aggression, and at times depression, animals too experience these symptoms when they are isolated from others. At times when they are confined to a particular ecosystem different from their usual habitat, they feel scared, and some result in extreme cases of psychopathic behavior such as cannibalism.
