Russell (2014) studied the impact of noticing and learning aspects of output and the effects of textually enhanced input and output in the acquisition of Spanish future tense. Output production and exposure to Spanish future tense facilitated inductive learning where salient features can help learning and make connections of the targeted forms. Textual (typographical) enhancement or visual input enhancement focuses on specific forms that may be noticed. Both output and text enhancement can induce noticing, which is potentially effective in improving language learning. Focus on form and meaning emphasizes a deeper understanding of a language where noticing and input enhancement highlight the form- meaning connections.
