Reality television has had a huge impact on current society, and individuals who are most affected are the young generation. I have noticed that with almost all channels having an episode of reality TV, most young people are being exposed to a culture that promotes drugs, sex, and vulgar language (Peek & Beresin, 2016). Most of the habits, which the young people are learning from these TV episodes are usually negative, and it is expected that they will have a detrimental impact in the future. Reality television is harming the lives of young people since it is manipulative, obsessive, and affects their self-esteem.
The programs that are aired on reality TV are not only manipulative, but they also enable young people to engage in negative behaviors. Reality TV is one of the most popular genres today among teens in the current society. For instance, most of the shows that are aired on reality TV usually involve drugs, sex, vulgar language, and violence (Peek, 2014). These programs are usually manipulative, and they influence young people to manipulate these harmful behaviors. On different occasions, I have witnessed my colleagues imitate celebrities taking drugs. Most of these celebrities are usually aired on reality TV, and this ends up having a negative impact on the youth.
It is evident that most young teems have become obsessed with various TV shows that are aired on reality TV. I have witnessed the pleasure of following certain TV episodes, particularly when the scenes are centered on a certain theme such as suspense.
