What types of security measures are mandated to secure data related to healthcare records in your organization?
There are many security layers for protecting healthcare records in our organization. First, the systems are only accessible to authorized people only who have different privileges under the system. Some can only view the data, while others can create, edit and delete. Secondly, any person authorized to use the system has a username and password. The system also requires two-factor authentication to reduce the chances of unauthorized entry.
Our EHR system also has deterrence features and tools that help prevent unauthorized access from the internet. There is a firewall and an intrusion detection system. These two features and tools monitor traffic and flag any unusual internet traffic coming from hackers. Authorized users accessing the system via the internet must also have VPN. The system is also protected by antivirus software that is continually updated.
