Divorce Does Not Imply Absolute Failure Section 1
Divorce is a double-edged sword in which a person may obtain what they desire while also causing what they do not desire; however, divorce does not imply absolute failure. According to the readings, an unhealthy relationship or marriage would most likely cause the other spouse to suffer for the duration of their marriage, with divorce being the only way to get out of terrible relationships with the other partners CITATION Vai12 \l 1033 (Vaillant, 2012). When a person files for divorce, they become free and may live their lives as they like, which is why divorcing implies releasing oneself from the horrible position in which they found themselves throughout their prior marriage.
Of course, divorce might affect other aspects of their lives, such as their other spouse or kid, but the children of the relationship are likely to be the most affected since they must live without one of their parents CITATION Mor211 \l 1033 (Morin, 2021). These situations can be difficult for the kid as they desire the affection of their other parents. When they see other children with their mothers and fathers, they wonder why they don't have a whole family. However, actual quality childcare and assistance after a divorce may be helpful and pleasant for both parents if they continue to provide the support the kid requires until the child reaches an age where they can grasp things fully.
A divorce is not a failure since it upholds everyone's right to be free from restriction and enjoy their lives without being tortured CITATION Vai12 \l 1033 (Vaillant, 2012). Divorcing is a form of self-care because it prevents you from losing your sanity during the years of torture that a bad marriage can bring. Additionally, as mentioned in the reading, a bad marriage can lead to addiction to substances such as alcohol because it provides a way to forget the suffering temporarily.
