Fallacies are common, and leaders have to understand and study them so that they do not make the wrong decisions, especially if it is something that would affect a large number of people. When a person comes up with an argument, it is easy to have a fallacy (Copi et al. 2016). Once a leader is aware of fallacies, then they would be in a position to form a foundation for critiquing and analyzing other arguments.
I think fallacies can arise when someone is not thinking critically. We rely on critical thinking when we deliberately and carefully rely on reasoning approaches to reach a decision that we believe is the right option. When individuals fail to think critically, then they can start making errors. This can arise in cases of deceptive reasoning where the person argues out of ignorance, relies on irrelevance facts, or tries to appeal to a large mass even if they are passing on the wrong information (Feldman, 2009).
