An NSCS (National Society Of Collegiate Students) chapter event I would like to attend is the Autism walk. This is an annual walk that focuses on raising awareness of autism. Mental health is a subject that is dear to me. One of my cousins was autistic, and during the time I interacted with her family, I learned a lot about the disorder and the challenges that the autistic individual, as well as the family, goes through. Over the years, I relate to issues of mental health because I have had first-hand experience with it.
In regards to service, NSCS is a national organization with member scholars, partners, officers, advisors, sponsors, and also employers among others. With all these service individuals, NSCS offers services based on the needs of the community. For example, NSCS recognizes the need to serve the community to address issues of mental health. Many high achieving college students have mental health problems. Given that NSCS cares about mental health, I would partner with this organization in the annual autism walk because they care about serving the community. When it comes to creating awareness, it is all about service to the community, and this is the message that NSCS tries to pass. NSCS is an honor society that tries to steer its members to participate in service activities so that they can be prepared in the future endeavors.
