According to Jerry Gold, core beliefs are fundamental beliefs about one’s personality, other people and the world around and these are used to determine how an individual perceives and interprets things around him (Gold, 2016). For some people, core beliefs are quite convincing, while for the others, these are the least compelling, urging them to unfold the hidden truth in one way or the other. For example, if a person is sitting on a desk and is all alone in the park, he may imagine and believe that he is there with his girlfriend, and without question, this belief is fake.
Positive core beliefs are associated with the emotions of a person, and encourage him to feel worthy, powerful, loved, respected and competent about himself. On the other hand, negative core beliefs are associated with imagining deadly and dangerous things, and these can influence one’s lifestyle to an extent (Gold, 2016).
