In 1999, Canadian researchers released a summary report on early childhood education. This 40 year report extensively touched on major issues regarding the importance of investing on early childhood education.
The evaluation was done in all provinces of Canada. It evidently revealed that early childhood education in Canada was rating poorly as compared to other countries and hence needed greater care and attention. The skills and expertise required for the whole development of a child goes beyond what teachers are taught-which is to teach academics. Children need to retain their autonomy from such a structure and be given ample opportunities for play, rest and individual experiences.
Findings also provide that it is difficult to take care of toddlers and infants both at home and in daycare. This also indicated that in the coming years the rate of upcoming daycares will double due to the rising need of child care services.
