When presenting arguments and appealing to the audience, advertisers use various techniques and try to be persuasive by using the rhetoric strategies of ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is appeal based on a person’s authority, credibility, character and reliability, while pathos is appealing to the peoples’ emotions, needs and values and logos is appeal through reasoning including facts, evidence, and statistics. Persuasive rhetoric in the advertisement advocating against gun violence appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos to be more effective in influencing the target audience.
