The survey will use a cross-sectional research design because it’s the most preferred and appropriate in monitoring health care necessities and the health status of a given population at a given point in time (Linnaus, M. A sample size of one thousand participants will be selected for the survey. The participants will be requested to complete the survey form where they will provide their demographic information, gender; locality, opioid use; opioid prescription, and pain management. At least five medical practitioners in different healthcare facilities will be contacted to participate in the study. A questionnaire consisting of eight key questions which are highlighted below will be used in the survey.
How contented are medical practitioners in prescribing opioids to different patients in health care facilities?
What are medical practitioners' apprehensions about addiction, abuse, side effects, and tolerance of opioids?
What are the reasons for opioid use?
Which is the most common type of opioid being used?
What is the nature of the opioid use problem?
What is the major challenge or gap in addressing the opioid crisis?
