According to Alina V. Solovyova and team, anemia is a serious medical condition that develops because of the lack of red blood cells or hemoglobin in the body. As one of the major constituents of the blood, hemoglobin contains oxygen-transport metalloprotein, and in its absence, it becomes impossible for the body cells to get sufficient oxygen. Thus, their death is likely to occur (Solovyova et al., 2018). After going through the case history of Ms. A, we got to know that she is suffering from shortness of breath and complains about the low level of energy and enthusiasm. She is only 26 years old, and at this age, people tend to be energetic and can perform multiple tasks at a time. It is evident that her body cells are not getting enough oxygen, and her stomach, heart, brain and other organs do not perform their functions properly, which is why Mr. A gets tired easily and has a lack of energy. It is a clear case of iron-deficiency anemia.
It is very unfortunate that more than two million women in the United States, aging from 20 to 45, have been affected by anemia. In an article titled The Effect of Variables Related to Reproductively on Anemia Detected in Women, Birsen Saydam mentions that iron-deficiency anemia is more common in women than men (Saydam, 2017). Low level of iron, combined with the unavailability of oxygen to the body cells, has led Ms. A to suffer from fatigue at this young age. While consulting a doctor, Ms. A should tell him when did she develop anemia and what types of medications she has used so far.
