Description
Strategic writing is all about critical thinking--anticipating how a certain audience will react to your message and keeping control of what you want your outcome to be. In this assignment, you will write 2 separate messages: 1 to an employee audience, and 1 to a general public audience. Each message will be short (half-page, single-spaced for each). The Audience-targeted Communications Scenario is the day that Bayer publicly announced that it will acquire Monsanto. The instructions are in the Guidelines below.

Guidelines
You are the chief of staff for Werner Baumann, CEO of Bayer AG. You are writing:
a short email message from the CEO to all Bayer employees
a short message from the CEO to the general public that will be posted on Bayer's website.
The message from the CEO will be distributed via email to all Bayer employees the day the company announces that it will acquire Monsanto. The email will be sent right after the news release is made public on Sept. 14, 2016. The message from the CEO to the general public will be posted to Bayer's website at the same time as the all-employee email is distributed.
Instructions:
Read and analyze the provided Sept. 14, 2016, Bayer news release and FAQs. (Do not Google information. Use the PDFs provided.)
Use the news release and the FAQs to pull your key messages from and to draft your document.
Write a brief email in a letter style from the CEO to all Bayer employees about today's (Sept. 14) announcement. Assume that they haven't read the news release. What would you want them to know today? As CEO, what do you want to tell them to gain their support for this news? Think about what's important to the employee. Remember: This is a form of persuasive writing, which is strategic and has an end goal for the sender. The end goal for the CEO includes gaining employee buy-in for the deal and keeping the business running.

Write a brief letter from the CEO to the general public about today's announcement. Assume they haven't read the news release. What would you want them to know today? As CEO, what do you want to tell them to gain their support for this news? Remember: The general public includes current and potential consumers and shareholders.
Each CEO message will be:
Half-page, single-spaced.
