Food culture is the beliefs, practices, and attitudes that surround the consumption, distribution, and production of food. The various cultures in the world have different foods that are associated with their beliefs. Hence, the use of the adages “You are what you eat” to mean “You eat what you are” describes that the type of food eaten by a person is related to his or her community. Therefore, the work describes Latino culture foods and compares it to the Chinese culture foods.
The main ingredients for Mexican cuisine include maize, chili peppers, and guacamole. Guacamole is an avocado sauce and it perfectly depicts the Mexican culture. Chili is used to add flavor and texture to the food while maize is the major staple food in the region which is considered authentic for almost all meals. The other staples include beans, chili and corn. However, the Europeans introduced other meals such as meat from domesticated animals including sheep, beef, goat, pork, and chicken in addition to different spices and herbs, and daily products. The culture primarily fries its dishes and families eat together in a group where each person serves whatever he or she prefers from the table.
