A Country Doctor Response

Essay Instructions:

This is the requirement of my response paper from my syllabus:
You will write two short papers (roughly two pages each) during this semester. These papers will ask you to form an argument about a particular short story from the syllabus that demonstrates your understanding of the story and the practice of academic writing in literature courses. Each paper will have its own specific prompts that will be posted to Canvas (KSOL) two class periods before the paper's due date.
The FIRST Response Paper (10%) is DUE on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
The SECOND Response Paper (10%) is Due on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
You will notice that each Response Paper is asking you to form an argument about a particular short story. An argument is a rhetorical device that forms a claim and supports it with direct evidence from the text. This claim should be formed as a clear thesis statement at the beginning and end of your response paper.
Example Thesis: “The characterization of the husband in Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's ‘The Yellow Wallpaper' changes over the course of the narrative because he is portrayed as sympathetic to the narrator's plight at the story's outset, but dismissive of the narrator's concerns before the story's conclusion.”
Once your thesis has been constructed, you will want to use in-text citations to support your thesis with textual evidence. Remember, it is essential that you cite specific examples from the story to make your argument a strong one.
Example Evidence: “We know that the attendees of ‘Masque of the Red Death' are doomed because Poe foreshadows its fate at the very beginning, when our narrator points out that the black room is uninhabited, ‘that there were few of the company bold enough to set foot within its precincts at all'” (252).
This response paper I choose one article which is named “A Country Doctor” (written by Franz Kafka). You can choose one part of this article to write this response paper.
When you write this response paper, please focus on the prompt for response paper.

A Country Doctor Response
The story is written in such a way that it first begins in the past and then the present which is the rape scene, goes back to the past again, and then the present again at the last part of the story. The last line of the story forms a claim that will be used to for this response paper and that is “Once one responds to a false alarm on the night bell, there’s no making it good again – not ever.”
It becomes clear that the entire story is an inevitable cause of making a mistake. Since the doctor responded to the call, which could possibly be a hallucination, the doctor starts a long chain of bad events. The visit he made to the patient seems to explain the depth of his own self because the bell did not actually ring. There is no actual patient waiting for him and the bell did not really ring because it was all in his imagination. There is a chance that this is caused by the doctor’s personality who plays the role of a distant friend. The patient said that the doctor is what they expected and this is another part of his imagination. In this journey taken by the doctor, he never recovers from the parts of the unconscious and the patient could symbolize the doctor’s dark side. With the doctor’s urgency to respond in this situation, it c...
