Green building is the current trend around the world. In a country such as the US, the shift has accelerated clienteles’ demand, environmental rules and regulations, and healthier buildings (Caldwell, 2019). This trend is expected to go higher in future since with large numbers of people building green, more people are becoming innovative, and the new materials are becoming dominant in the market (Downton, 2013). Natural materials build many homes around the world. However, innovation has led to the use of historical products and techniques, thus producing quality products. The use of rammed earth is one of the trending eco-building materials around the world of today (Jordan, 2015). Despite the earth construction being the oldest durable method for building structures, it has turned to be the most expensive and desirable method of building modern homes.
Besides, the rammed earth walls and floors can be used to store thermal energy, thus allowing the solar energy to warm them during the day and cool them during the night (Jordan, 2015). The innovation makes the use of low carbon methods in making the durable surfaces by placing the soil and the binder together, then compressing them under high pressure. Additionally, the watershed company is now applying this technique in making its blocks, which are now replacing the concrete masonry (Caldwell, 2019). The company makes use of waste materials from quarries in producing little or even zero cement blocks that the masons can quickly fix.
