The world is facing a climate change crisis. Industrialization has weakened the protective ozone layer through the emission of dangerous greenhouse gases making global temperatures rise. The rising global temperatures have led to rising ocean, sea, and lake water levels while rivers and rain catchment areas are drying up due to deforestation and high temperatures. My hometown, New Orleans, is facing an extinction threat from rising water levels and sinking land. However, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority released a $50 billion fund in 2017 to help tackle the climate change issue. New Orleans is among the beneficiaries of this plan.
