The imperial aspects of climate change raise ethical uncertainties in almost every angle that is perceived. From the perspective of justice and fairness ethicism, the developed countries, which are leaders in Green House Gas emissions (Zheng et al., 2019), are doing an injustice to the developing countries. The different countries of countries also raise many ethical concerns among the rights ethicists who demand that the rights and obligations be well laid out to ensure that the culprits of GHG emission are held accountable. There is an emerging and intensified concern with the concept of climate change by the younger generation who are sensitive about GHG emissions and worried about their future and the affairs of future generations. Greta Thunberg, a young Swedish climate activist (Sengupta, 2019), has inspired many and sparked a debate on the current generation's moral obligation to the future generation.
Climate change has been primarily attributed to human activities (Al-Ghussain, 2019). The current generation should be willing to pay the price for the disastrous effects of climate change and strive as much as possible to eradicate the causative agents. Paying the price is a show of responsibility for the future generation instead of betraying them, given that the adverse effects of GHG may take as long as a century to be felt. Climate change mitigation might come at a higher cost for the current generation, but the benefits of safeguarding the future generation supersede the mitigation costs. Besides, climate change's dire consequences should be enough lessons already not to ever subject future generations to even severer sufferings.
