The fictitious organization is a public primary school in a remote part of the country. The school currently has a population of 400 students. Most of these students are from poor households. The school has a large land area of about four hectares. However, less than a quarter of the land is utilized at the moment. Most of the school buildings are dilapidated since they have not been maintained for a long time. Despite these challenging circumstances, the pupils beat all odds to perform well and proceed to high school and tertiary institutions. Being a public school, it receives some funding from the government. However, the funding is barely enough. The school has a free lunch program, which helps provide some meals to students from the neediest households. Despite the ensuing challenges, the school has an adequate number of teachers. The headteacher notes that the ratio of teacher to students is good, and no teacher is overwhelmed. However, the school has a very small number of computers, and they are almost outdated. In addition, the school faces water supply problems leading to sanitation issues. Despite having many challenges, the main challenge that the school faces is that of lack of access to adequate computers. As noted above, the computers available are old and run-on outdated software. To learn effectively and for their skills to remain relevant in the modern world, the school must be equipped with a modern computer lab.
Possible Funding Sources
One possible funding source for this grant proposal is the United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF). This branch of the United Nations was established to help address the long-term problems affecting children around the world. UNICEF particularly focuses on addressing the neediest cases. One of the priority areas that UNICEF focuses on is the education, sanitation, and wellbeing of children.
