Community Policing
Police officers must keep a community safe and secure since they are responsible for maintaining law and order and ensuring that everyone's rights are respected. Moreover, if a suspect poses a threat to the community's safety, police officers are on the lookout for them. They do it by gathering information on the ground or communicating with their community through various programs and events. These are referred to as community policing or proactive policing, and the police use them to assist the community while also gathering crucial data to be examined.
This paper will focus on how data collected are processed in terms of events following the formation of police teams to carry out community policing in specific neighborhoods. Methods can include partnering with community organizations, encouraging the community, and preventing crime by offering advice. The amount of data collected in each area of the community being patrolled may be maximized with analytical methods applied to the data.
The data is subsequently analyzed using descriptive analysis, a sub-area of statistics that statistically characterizes or summarizes aspects of a set of data, and descriptive statistics, which analyzes and assesses those statistics. Diagnostic analysis, predictive analysis, and prescriptive analysis are the other three forms of data analysis. However, descriptive analysis is the focus for community policing purposes since it is more suited to the data obtained by the police through pure observations and verbal accounts provided by the people. Criminal justice specialists can use crime statistics to predict when a crime is likely to occur. This may be followed up with law enforcement participation to ensure that predicted crimes do not occur. Predictive policing data can help police officers focus on a specific area and better use their resources.
On the other hand, the predictive value of crime statistics is debatable and enhanced. Several experimental studies employing crime statistics have attempted to predict future crime, but the findings have been inconclusive. The goal is for crime data to be used to more effectively minimize future crimes CITATION Wal \l 1033 (Walden University , n.d.).
These policing actions by law enforcement are proven to be effective and reliable in data gathering, according to the article made by CITATION Fra20 \l 1033 (Straub, 2020). The establishment and maintenance of trusted relationships, which are crucial in the prevention of crime, terrorism, and targeted violence, are at the heart of community policing. Law enforcement officials may identify impediments, challenges, and concerns that develop in the community through gathering real-time data. Armed with this information, law enforcement officers must collaborate with community members to develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent crime, terrorism, and targeted violence. That is why, when the police's d...
