Some of the federal agencies and cabinet department in-charge of existence and causes of climate change include: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of the Interior (DOI), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) (Burns & Strauss, 2013).
EPA was created in 2013 for programs and policies that cover air quality, health matters, and costal-land issues based on the water management and adequate environment management. In addition, EPA strategizes on water programs in US, and well as defining appropriate methods of adapting in particular areas of mitigations. Other proposed actions include water consumption, effluent standards, and water protection. According to Institute of Medicine (2011), DOT centers on coordinating technical aspects regarding the climate change. The focus extends to reduction in emission of the greenhouse gas on top of preparing the implications on the climate change for both long and short terms. Evaluations of the impacts of high temperatures on the transportation operations and infrastructures lead to development effective strategies of mitigating potential hazards. DOI is responsible for water and wildlife management, reclamation and management, and regulation matters that play a crucial significance in adaptation of the climate change. HUD ensures that the housing and transportation objectives are met; hence protecting the environment, enhancing equitable development and addressing challenges of climate change (Gerrard & American Bar Association. (2007).
Other departments and agencies that focus on the creating and executing policies are the Presidential Act, Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Energy. For instance, the Presidential Act of 2013 ordered creation of the Council for Climate Preparedness with an important role in promoting safety in the environment. USDA ensures that the national forest and private lands rehabilitated and reclaimed to enhance life and water resources (Webre & United States. (2010). The Forest and Agricultural Research Service (FARS) is an agency that ensures development agricultural solutions. These agencies analyze and execute policies that count great significant in determining impacts of the climatic changes.
