Criminal Justice Report Summary
An incident report is a form that documents a victim's statement concerning a crime. It is usually employed by the law enforcement discipline to document a detailed narrative of the criminal incident as it happened, over and above, any additional information relevant to the situation. On the other hand, the complaint and warrant are documents used by the courts: the complaint form provides a detailed account of the charges against the suspect, while the latter is a form warranting the police to execute an arrest. The judge examines the complaint report to determine if there is probable cause to believe that the suspect is guilty of committing an offense (Cornell Law School, 2021). If there is sufficient probable cause, the judge then issues an arrest warrant requiring that the defendant be arrested and brought before the judge without unnecessary delay.
