PROJECT SCOPE
Project scope
This project is aimed at designing a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a Golden one credit union Bank branch. The new wireless network installation will be a form of value-added guest Wi-Fi network targeted at improving customer experience and offering personalized services at the bank. The new Wi-Fi network will be entirely segregated from the existing internal bank network including the current customer-facing system. The new system will be installed using the current 802.11ax standards.
FEASIBILITY STUDY
Objectives of the Network:
1 Secure Service –The main objective of this wireless network will be to improve the bank’s experience for clients, visitors, and employees. With the increased adoption of smart devices such as smartphones and tablets, connectivity is key to ensuring clients best use their wait time. With a Wi-Fi connection at the branch, clients will be able to easily access location-based services such as access to financial information, application of new services, and also transacting. Additionally, the bank will have access to information that can enable them to offer more personalized services by following clients’ activities throughout their visit. For instance, the bank can send surveys to connected clients to know how they can serve them better. The guest Wi-Fi will also enable employees to better promote new products and services by the bank. To ensure the new network is secure, the WPA3 wireless security protocol, which is the most secure protocol will be employed (Reddy & Srikanth, 2019).
2 Integration and Updates –This proposal is about establishing an entirely new guests Wi-Fi network that is independent of the existing banking network. The two will be completely segregated to avoid creating vulnerability by opening a banking network to guests. As such, no integration and updates of the existing bank network infrastructure will be necessary. To ensure the new network has an upgrade path, all the used devices will be 802.11 standards compliant.
3 Versatile Information Process –The network must have the capacity to handle vast data traffic to cater to the busy work environment at the bank. There are hundreds of individuals at the branch at each given time and some have multiple devices which may be using the guest Wi-Fi network. The proposed network should allow clients, guests, and employees to conduct any online activity smoothly without unwarranted downtimes.
